Douglas Brumley
Douglas Brumley is a DECRA fellow (2018-20) and Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at The University of Melbourne. His studies span a range of length and time scales, from the dynamics of individual swimming microorganisms and the way they interact with one another, to the large scale flows around coral reefs. Through the use of microfluidic devices, fluorescent microscopy and high speed imaging in conjunction with mathematical models, Douglas investigates the fundamental physical principles in these systems and the role that behaviour at the microscale plays in determining macroscale observations in our oceans.
