Sasha Tetu Australian Microbial Ecology 2019

Sasha Tetu

I am a molecular microbiologist and Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University, Sydney. My research utilises a variety of ‘omics’ techniques to better understand the biology of microorganisms involved in disease, industrial and agricultural processes. My main research focus is on understanding the genetic basis for microbial adaptation to environmental pressures. I am particularly interested in how microorganisms respond to anthropogenic pressures. I am currently working to combine microbial ecology and toxicogenomics techniques to determine how common chemical pollutants affect key marine photosynthetic bacteria that underpin marine food webs.
